Learn to cook from an Italian chef

The Amalfi coast has the most breathtaking scenery - cliffs terraced with lemon groves go right down to the glittering sea, white washed villas cling to the unforgiving slopes, and the views are to die for. Amalfi has a reputation for great food whether that’s San Marzano tomatoes straight off the vine or the enormous and intensely aromatic lemons - so perfect for making the famous limoncello. Our cooking lessons are relaxed, fun and hands-on. They take place in the kitchen of the villa, with everyone working in a group with the chef. You will also visit an artisan fior di latte (mozzarella cheese producer). And no visit to Amalfi is complete without spending a day on the island of Capri.

  • 5 x 3 course cookery lessons with our Italian cook
  • Day trip to the isle of Capri
  • Visit to Positano and Sorrento and dinner at a local restaurant
  • Visit to a Mozzarella di Bufala producer and private tasting
Solo Traveller Comments

Group sizes are usually about eight people and generally half are single travellers. Whether you're used to travelling alone or simply taking some time out for yourself, the relaxed, friendly atmosphere at all our venues is geared towards allowing you to be part of the group when it suits and striking out on your own when you want to.

This holiday is not just a typical touristic experience as it involves travelling with a purpose and the opportunity to see the genuine and local face of Italy. Our local Italian hosts have lived abroad and know exactly what to do to avoid making our guests feel like tourists. They will always be by your side and organise trips to wine tastings, local food producers, markets and sites of cultural interest.

The ages of our guests vary. We understand that it is important to be with like minded people, so we always do our best to match ages for each group. Our guests are from all over the world - mostly from Australia, UK, USA, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa.

And most importantly for solo travellers - there is NO SINGLE SUPPLEMENT!

Our groups are small so everyone can really get involved. Our local chefs are very passionate about cooking and sharing their knowledge. You’ll learn new techniques and skills, while creating recipes traditional to the region using fresh, seasonal ingredients. Italian food is simple but tasty and the recipes you’ll learn are ones you can bring home and create in your own kitchen with ingredients that can be found anywhere.

Dishes you will sample include: pasticciotti (pastry tart oozing with lemon custard - best eaten with a strong Neopolitan coffee!), tonati e patate (calamari), spaghetti al limone, ricci e peperoncini (typical handmade pasta with fresh tomato and chilli sauce), marinated anchovies, fresh local seafood including parpandalo shrimps, prawns, clams and fish baked on lemon leaves.

Villa Praiano

Towering above the sea at the edge of a cliff, villa Praiano dominates a commanding position on the Almafi Coast. The Villa points out over the sea like the prow of a ship, with a beautiful view of the plunging cliffs along the coast. Set into the limestone cliffs, our villa does have a moderate amount of steps.  The terrace below the villa provides a beautiful view out over the sea, perfect for and aperitivo before dinner. There is a private sea-water swimming pool wit hsteps down to the sea.

"The hospitality of our delightful host and the passion for food and life of our chef - such a great team and together they created a lovely atmosphere. They made sure that everyone was involved at all times (when they wanted to be of course) which I thought was important. However, our group of guests were also very sociable and pleasant. The venue was great and so was the weather!! Everything worked. I didn't want to leave!!"  Barbara

"My favourite aspect of the cooking holiday was eating chef 's good food, drinking and relaxing round the pool! Also fun and friendships formed with rest of group."  John

"Extremely impressed with the caring attention given to us by our hosts. Nothing was too much trouble and they cared passionately about their service to us."  Janet
