Groups include a significant number of single people who are able to enjoy the holiday with people who have similar interests. The prospect of travelling alone can be daunting but we find very quickly everyone has long forgotten this feeling and many new strong friendships are formed on our holidays. Although the average group size is 11 persons, dinner is taken in a group which can vary in size from 10 to 28 when there is another activity group sharing the hotel. This gives you the opportunity to get to know everyone in the group over the length of the holiday over a friendly relaxed dinner in the evenings.
There is NO single supplement on this tour.

Day 1 - Arrival day
Leaving Málaga we arrive in Mecina in time to explore this pretty village before a reviving dinner.
Day 2 - Mecinilla Mementoes
A short walk from the hotel this tranquil hamlet offers all the subjects, shade and comforts you need for an introductory day, including tapas lunch at Angel's Bar Aljibe!
Day 3 - Ancient Atalbeitar
Here, where time has stood still, light and shade await you beside the spring and labyrinth of alleyways. If you choose, you can be guided back to the hotel in a 40-minute stroll on downhill track and road via Ferreirola.
Day 4 - In and around Ferreirola
From the spring and wash house to the village outskirts this jigsaw of light and shade is a painter's joy. Another chance to walk back to the hotel.
Day 5 - Free day
This is an untutored day on which guests may travel to visit Granada with its Alhambra Palace and Gardens and Moorish history. Booking the Alhambra Palace in advance is essential.
Day 6 - High Bubión
Below stepped streets the village square with church, fountain and café typifies the Moorish scene. Vistas unfold past terraced gardens and irrigating aquecias, flat house roofs with their curiously capped chimneys up to the grandeur of Mulhacen and the high sierras.
Day 7 - Trevélez beside the stream
By a ruined mill we paint and picnic as meltwater cascades through shaded woods of poplars whose colours change with the seasons. In this pastoral calm, cattle come to drink with their herdsmen. A chance to shop for local goods at the end of the day.
Day 8 - Departure day
We depart for Málaga airport after an early breakfast.
Note: This is a selection of the many options available. Weather conditions, group interests and the individual tutor will influence the final itinerary.
PAINTING TUTOR - RONALD SWANWICK
After receiving an art school and college education Ronald went into retail sales for several years until he decided he should be painting for a living.
He has succeeded in 'staying afloat' for over thirty years, has had many exhibitions and completed many commissions both in the UK and abroad. He has illustrated books, written books on drawing and is also a notable mural painter.
Ronald has always had a great interest in wildlife and landscape and in recent years has concentrated on birds. He is currently the resident artist at WWT Slimbridge. He has been teaching adults for over twenty years and has a reputation as an amusing and very competent tutor.
He is very versatile and happy to work with students in most media. A recent student commented "I was impressed by Ronald's versatility but what was more impressive was his unstinting willingness to pass on all his skills."
Primary media: watercolour, oil, pastel, soft pencil, ink and wash and drawing
